Rocky Hill Business Taking Registration For Just One More Day For 'The Rock School'

School based on popular movie, 'The School of Rock.'

Bob Rustigian, owner of The Music Score on Silas Deane Highway, said he loved the movie "School Of Rock."

So from that movie comes "The Rock School."

Rustigian and The Music Store are currently accepting registrations for "The Rock School," a three-month class where students will learn the basics of the music industry. Students will make a record, rehearse effectively, conduct sound checks and learn how to conduct themselves professionally. But you need to register today to be enrolled.

The class will break into bands. Each band will be overseen by a musical mentor, where they will work collaboratively to write and perform original music.

"The overall goal is to bring the students to a level in which they can perform their original pieces as a professional looking band at The Music Score's Friday Open Mic Night and record their songs to a CD," Rustigian said.

The school is open to any and all students who have completed lessons on their respective instrument for six months to a year. Teacher approval is required.

"The best way to learn an instrument is to apply the skills and concepts learned in private lessons," Rustigian said. "Once a student has a firm grasp on the basics of the guitar, bass, violin, keyboards, voice etc...'The Rock School' is the next step. 'The Rock School' provides a great influence to take a student's playing to the next level."

According to Rustigian, students will learn every step of the production process. The students are taught how to be valuable members of the rock band by learning instrumental excellence, note and chart reading, song arrangement and audience interaction. Students will also learn the technical aspects of performance such as sound reinforcement, amplification and acoustics.

Classes meet every Friday from 10 a.m. until noon from July 5 to August 30. The cost is $250 per student.
