Rocky Hill Dentist To Pay $148K To Resolve Medicaid Allegations
A Rocky Hill dentist will pay $148,000 to resolve allegations that he billed Medicaid for services he was not permitted to perform.
ROCKY HILL, CT — A local dentist will pay more than $148,000 to resolve allegations that he caused over-payments to be paid by the Connecticut Medicaid Program, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Ean James is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who practices at Hartford County Oral Surgery in Bristol and Rocky Hill.
Prosecutors said the allegations against James are related to billing Medicaid for sedation and anesthesia services without a valid permit to perform those services.
On April 30, 2018, James’ permit to perform conscious sedation lapsed. Despite not having an active permit, James continued to provide anesthesia and sedation services to Medicaid patients undergoing certain oral surgical procedures, and billed Medicaid for these services.
