Rocky Hill Girl, 10, to Be "Drafted" by Wesleyan Swimming Team

Aliana will be drafted on Nov. 8 during a ceremony that was organized by Team IMPACT.

A 10-year-old Rocky Hill girl will be drafted by the Wesleyan University Men and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams as part of a charity organization’s way of helping children facing adverse health issues.

Aliana Fichera was diagnosed with common variable immunodeficiency in September 2012.

Aliana will be drafted on Nov. 8 during a ceremony that was organized by Team IMPACT, a Boston-based organization that pairs children facing health issues with collegiate support networks.

From then on Aliana will be part of the Wesleyan team and will attend practices, games, meets and other events.

Team IMPACT has helped pair more than 550 kids with 281 schools across 37 states.
