Rocky Hill Man Arrested for Attempted Gas Station Robbery

Berlin Police arrested the suspect on Saturday and say the man is suspected of two other gas station heists in that town.

A Rocky Hill man is in custody on attempted robbery and weapons charges stemming from an incident at the Shell gas station on the Berlin Turnpike over the weekend.

Berlin Police said that it was 11:22 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, when they received a call from the attendant at the Shell station at 1376 Berlin Turnpike, who reported a suspicious motor vehicle. The station had been robbed at gunpoint twice in the last two weeks.

Police said, “Officers quickly arrived on scene and located Timothy Aseltine, of 95 Old Tannery Rd. Rocky Hill, acting suspiciously.”

Police said, “During the investigation it was determined that Aseltine had arrived at the convenience store with the intent to rob the store.”

Aseltine was charged with second-degree attempted robbery, attempted sixth-degree larceny and weapons in a motor vehicle.

Information on what type of weapon was found was not immediately available.

Police also said, “Aseltine is also suspected of committing two other robberies at the Shell Station over the past two weeks. Arrest warrants are pending in those cases.”

The station was first robbed July 23 and then again on July 28, prompting police to release a video of the suspect from the store’s security system.
