Rocky Hill Obituary: Andrew Kycia III, 76

Tom was a 1960 graduate of Rocky Hill High School, and went on to serve four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War era.

Andrew T. “Tom” Kycia III, 76, husband of Jane (Lizotte) Kycia of Wethersfield, went home to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

He was born February 24, 1942, in Manchester, son of the late Andrew T. Kycia, Jr. and Bernice (Jeski) Kycia. Tom was a 1960 graduate of Rocky Hill High School, went on to serve four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War era, and after was employed by Terry Steam Turbine and Pratt and Whitney.

Tom and Jane married October 31, 1970, and were blessed with a beautiful family. He worked hard to provide for his family, of whom he was most proud of and always considered to be the greatest and most important achievement of his life.

In addition to being a long-time member of St Luke Church, Tom was a member of American Legion Post 23 of Wethersfield, Circus Fans Association of America, and a former Camp Fire Youth Group Leader.

In addition to his wife Jane, Tom leaves his children, their spouses, and grandchildren: Christine and Kenneth Reeves, and Emily, Joshua, Sarah, and Leah, all of Terryville; Julie Kycia of Holyoke, MA; Mark and Ina Kycia of Millbury, MA; Angela Kycia and sons Keith Wood and Derek Thomas Kycia all of Milford; Matthew and Elyse Kycia, and Nolan and Lyla all of Canton; and Gregory Kycia of Sudbury, MA. He is also survived by two sisters Evelyn A. LaPorte of Florida, and Diane H. Muccio and husband Raymond of South Carolina.

Jane and family would like to extend sincere appreciation and give special thanks to the staff of Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill for the exemplarily and compassionate care given to Tom over many years. Tom always said if he couldn't be home then Apple is where he wanted to be because they took such good care of him. Grateful thanks also to Masonicare Hospice for their specialized care of Tom and his family.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Kycia family Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 26, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Luke Church of Christ the King Parish, 66 Bolton St, Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, Tom requested that donations be made to Homes for Our Troops which builds and donates specially adapted homes for severely injured post 9/11 veterans. Donations may be made online at hfotusa.org. Tom would appreciate donations be directed towards Marine Corporal Roger Rua of Middlebury, CT.
