Rocky Hill Obituary: John Colello, 66

Attorney John Joseph Colello, 66, of Rocky Hill, passed away on June 16, 2018. Husband of the late Aileen Laudano Colello and father of their beloved Lauren and Joseph, he is now at peace with Aileen, whom he loved more than life itself.

Born in Hartford on October 21, 1951, he was the son of the late John A. Colello and Mary (Weber) Colello. He graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 1969 and earned a B.S. from University of Hartford and a law degree from Western New England College School of Law.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his family; his skilled handling of real estate closings; his generosity and clever sense of humor; his fondness of old TV shows like The Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, and The Honeymooners; his fascination with New York City and love of the Yankees; and his unlimited stash of candy that made him very popular among the neighborhood children. He was the guy to call if your television blew up and you needed to go shopping for a new one.

He is survived by his son Joseph P. Colello of Rocky Hill; daughter, Dr. Lauren Colello Hoogewerff and her husband David of Cambridge, MA; and sister Kathleen Colello and her husband Mark Nixon of West Hartford.

The family is especially grateful to the angels of Silo Drive for their unwavering love, care, and support of John.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 24, from 2-5 p.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Street in Rocky Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, at 11 a.m., at Saint Josephine Bakhita Parish at Saint James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Attendees should go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
