Rocky Hill Obituary: Karen McCarthy, 51

She pursued the study of herbal medicine and acupuncture, never letting her own health problems slow her down.

Karen Anne McCarthy died unexpectedly on November 6, 2018 as a result of an accident in South Glastonbury. She was 51 years old. Karen was predeceased by her father, husband, and her beloved son Jesse McCarthy.

She leaves behind her mother, Joan McCarthy; a brother, Michael McCarthy; and her close friend, Nicole Gerstung.

After graduating from Rocky Hill High School, she attended the University of Puget Sound, returning to Connecticut on the sudden death of her father. She received her associates degree at the Capital Region Community College and also took courses at Mt. Holyoke College.

She was a Master Gardener and a Certified Massage Therapist. She also pursued the study of herbal medicine and acupuncture, never letting her own health problems slow her down. She was very involved in her son's life and was deeply saddened that his life was so short.

A memorial service will be held in the future. Karen will be buried next to her son in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There are no calling hours.
