Rocky Hill Residents Oppose Plans For Hotel, Restaurant

A proposed $10 million project in Rocky Hill is meeting opposition from residents.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Rocky Hill residents are opposing a proposed $10 million extended-stay hotel and restaurant, claiming it will bring increased crime and disruption to the neighborhood, according to The Hartford Courant. The proposed project would be located at the I-91 North on-ramp on the Silas Deane Highway.

Residents have submitted 105 signed letters in opposition to the project. In particular, they believe an extended-stay hotel would attract more crime, though town officials said this is not the case, according to The Courant.

Developer Ron Lyman, of Sam Center LLC/REL Inc., has requested a special permit and site plan approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission. Lyman has reportedly secured commitments from Woodsprings Suites Hotel and LongHorn Steakhouse to build on the site.
