Rocky Hill Riding Instructor Attains a Top Certification

Woman works at the Naugatuck farm, which offers therapeutic riding and equine-assisted activities.

Congratulations to Hidden Acres riding instructor Alex Santoro, of Rocky Hill, who recently received her PATH International certification for Therapeutic Riding Instruction. PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) is a professional organization which establishes standards for quality equine-assisted activities and therapy.

To become a PATH certified therapeutic riding instructor, candidates must have a solid foundation of horsemanship and then receive training and mentorship to develop the skills needed for  providing safe and beneficial equine-assisted activities for individuals with physical, developmental and emotional challenges.

"Alex dedicated more than six months and over 150 hours before qualifying to sit for a written exam and providing demonstration of her competencies," said  Jeanna Pellino of Hidden Acres. "Hidden Acres is fortunate to have Alex join a team of three Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors and over 50 trained volunteers dedicated to serving those with needs in our community."
