Salutatorian Katie Seaver Got Everything She Could Out Of Life At Rocky Hill High School

Her advice to younger students is to try everything and find what they are passionate about.

When you look at Katie Seaver's resume you will be shocked at how many things she was involved in and also with the diversity of those activities.

She is a three-sport athlete and played first base as a junior on the state champion Rocky Hill state softball championship team. She also played soccer and helped her team reach the state tournament semifinals this year.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, Class Vice President for four years, in the Community Service Club, a member of Rocky Hill Educational Future Group, Freshmen Leadership Advisory Group and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

"I think it is important to be a part of your school community so I was fortunate to get so involved in activities," Seaver said. "I will really miss the coaches and the teachers and students at Rocky Hill High School. I would tell younger students or people coming into the school to get as involved as you can. Find some sports or clubs and you will feel like part of a family. I have the best memories from playing games and going to watch games as well as some of the trips we took for our activities. That's what I'll miss the most."

Seaver took two trips to New Orleans with the Habitat for Humanity Club.

"They were great trips," said Seaver, the daughter of Vin and Maggie Seaver. "One of the best parts is that our Principal, Mr. Almeida, was one of the chaperones for the trip. To get to know him in that setting was great. He is a great Principal. He is involved and comes to a lot of activities. He does a great job of getting to know the kids. He goes above and beyond."

Seaver will attend Providence College in the fall where she will major in Health Management.

"I'm not sure exactly what I want to do but I know I like math and science and want to do something in the medical field," she said. "I was lucky to have great teachers who helped me in AP Chemistry and AP Statistics. I liked those subjects and the teachers, Mr. Graca and Mrs. Kennedy."

So how did Seaver get everything she could out of high school?

"I just found what I was passionate about," she said. "I got to know my classmates quickly and that was helped because I was so involved in sports and activities. I would encourage people to get to know their teachers too. They are really great. That has made my experience at Rocky Hill High School as good as I could have ever asked for."
