Seven-Figure Bond Stays On Rocky Hill Murder Defendant

A man charged with murder after a stabbing incident at a Rocky Hill apartment complex remained in custody Wednesday.

ROCKY HILL — A man charged with murder after a stabbing incident at a Rocky Hill apartment complex remained in custody on a $1 million bond Wednesday morning.

Kenton Dalton, a 39-year-old Rocky Hill resident, is due back in court on April 2, judicial records indicate.

The stabbing took place Monday night and wound up being Rocky Hill's first homicide in about a decade. At 11:03 p.m. police received a 911 call from 100 Cold Spring Road — the Century Hills apartment complex. A caller said a man had been stabbed multiple times inside an apartment, according to a report.

Rocky Hill police officers arrived at the scene, located the victim and began life-saving measures, according to a report. The man was subsequently transported to Hartford Hospital by Rocky Hill Volunteer Ambulance and was pronounced deceased later Tuesday morning, police said.

Dalton was immediately detained and later charged with murder, police said.

According to an arrest warrant, Dalton had no prior police record and moved to Connecticut from Virginia about a year ago.

Daton said he was defending himself after a sexual encounter became aggressive, according to a warrant. He grabbed two kitchen knives and stabbed the man about seven times, according to testimony outlined in a warrant.

The name of the victim had not been released by police through Wednesday morning.
