State Trooper Seriously Injured In I-91 Crash In Rocky Hill
The trooper was on duty investigating another crash when another vehicle struck his from behind, State Police said.

ROCKY HILL, CT — State Trooper, Alvin Tao Chen, 33, was injured after another vehicle crashed into his cruiser as he was investigating a previous accident just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, State Police said.
State Police said that Chen was in his cruiser parked in the left lane of Interstate 91 southbound, approximately a half mile north of Exit 23. Chen was on duty investigating a prior accident and the emergency lights of his cruiser were activated and a flare pattern was established to alert oncoming traffic, State Police said.
He was seated in his cruiser at the time of this collision. Julio Angel Delgado, 21, of Hartford, was traveling on Interstate 91 southbound in the right lane in a 2001 Honda Accord when he crossed over all lanes of traffic to the left and entered the left lane, State Police said.

Delgado's vehicle then hit Chen's cruiser from behind, State Police said. Both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed from the scene. Chen suffered injuries to his head, neck and right knee and was transported by EMS to Hartford Hospital.

State Police said Delgado was found responsible for this accident and was issued an infraction for unsafe lane change and failure to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle.
