Town Manager Enters Her Final Year Before Retirement July 1, 2014
Barbara Gilbert has worked for 40 years for the Town of Rocky Hill.

When Town Manager Barbara Gilbert signed her contract last year she let the Town council know that this would be her last contract. She told them that when it expired at midnight July 1, 2014, she was retiring.Â
"It will be 40 years for me with the town so I think it's time," Gilbert said recently. "When I renewed my contract I made them fully aware that this would be it for me."
Gilbert thinks that the town will be proactive in looking for her replacement.
"I'm not sure what the hiring process will be but I think they have said that they will make this a National Search," Gilbert said. "The decision will be made by the Town Council and the Mayor."
That decision could be made by a different Town Council, however, as the Town Council elections will be this November.Â
"There are some days when I wished the retirement was the next day and there are days when I wish it would never come," Gilbert said. "It's a rewarding job but it's also a very demanding job. I am blessed to work with great people. The town employees do a great job and they care about the town very much."Â
