AmeriCares Seeking Volunteers for Free Stamford Clinic

AmeriCares Free Clinic of Stamford is looking for volunteers fluent in both Spanish and English to serve as interpreters and patient eligibility screeners.

Officials are asking the volunteers, who must be at least 21 years old, to work one four-hour shift a month on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.

The AmeriCares mobile clinic will make stops in the East Side, West Side and Waterside neighborhoods beginning in January. Primary care services will be provided to low-income Stamford and Darien residents without health insurance. It will be the only free clinic in Stamford, where 20-percent of the population is uninsured. Free clinics are also provided in Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury and serve approximately 3,000 Fairfield County residents annually.

For more information about how to volunteer, contact AmeriCares Free Clinics Volunteer Services Associate Lorraine Larkin at 203-658-9521 or llarkin@americares.org. For more information on AmeriCares, visit americaresfreeclinics.org or call 1(800) 486-HELP.
