Beldotti Bakery Now Offering Freshly Made Donuts
The family-run bakery, which has been in business since 1985, launched new donut offerings on Friday.

STAMFORD, CT — For Beldotti Bakery, it's time to make the donuts.
The family-run bakery, located at 605 Newfield Ave., officially launched their new donut line on Friday after spending several months coming up with different delicious creations.
There are roughly 30 varieties, ranging from banana caramel chocolate, Fruity Pebbles, and cronuts, to classics like black raspberry-filled and Boston cream. The donuts are yeast-raised or old-fashioned, made with regular cake, blueberry, or chocolate with different toppings.

Regular donuts go for $2 each, filled ones are $2.50, and the more creative ones are $3. The donuts are Kosher, too, since the bakery is sponsored by Congregation Agudath Sholom and Rabbi Cohen.
Owner Michael Beldotti worked at Delite Bakery on High Ridge Road as a teenager, and after college, he bought the business for himself. He eventually opened up the Newfield Avenue location in 1990.

"Delite Bakery was kind of a donut shop. Through the years, we got away from donuts. They weren't a fad anymore. Being in the business, always looking at new things, it seems like they're a trendy thing," Beldotti said. "We knew that the donuts that we made back in the day would translate to today, and we knew we had a winner. They're quality donuts, and they're fried here and fried fresh. Not too many people do that nowadays. We have an existing clientele that always kind of wanted them."
Beldotti's children, Tina and Michael Jr., are also involved in the business. It was earlier this year that they decided to bring donuts to the bakery.
"We did a whole bunch of taste tests at different donut shops in the area and up in Connecticut and New York. We wanted to make something that was different and really good, but also a little bit old fashioned," Tina said, adding that they first had to purchase and install a fryer. "We tried different mixes and different recipes, and it went from there."
The bakery has amassed a following of loyal customers over the years, so providing them with new and exciting options like specialty donuts is important, the Beldottis said.
"Our customers are our livelihood. We love them so much. Most of our regulars are like our family now," Tina added. "The donuts just seemed like something everyone was excited about. We had a team of regulars who were rooting for us. They knew the day the fryer was being put in. Any product we put out we try to put out to the best of our ability and make people happy with our food. We're Italian, so it's in our blood."

The launch on Friday was a success, as a line of customers showed up to take home some sweet treats. The Boston cream donut in particular sold out by 10 a.m.
The customers kept the business going throughout the pandemic. Beldotti Bakery never had to close its doors, as they offered curbside pickup and delivery. Delivery within the Stamford area is still available on Fridays.
"We had such a great support system from our customers. We had our regulars coming in, and we actually noticed new people moving to Stamford who came in and wanted to help support local businesses," Tina said of the past year-and-a-half.
Michael Beldotti said the bakery tries to offer up different items with each season, to go along with their main staples. Tina noted that perhaps in the future, they can offer fresh and dried pastas.
"It's good for us because to do the same thing everyday is not fun," Michael said. "That's what I love about this job. It's always different, and you can always do something different. That's the love of it."
Tina said they hope to have their new website ready soon. Beldotti Bakery is open seven days a week. For more information, call the bakery at 203-348-9029.
