Celebrate Lunar New Year 2020 at The Ferguson Library

A great experience, featuring a Chinese acrobat, Korean drummers and dancers, a Tae Kwon Do demonstration and arts & crafts for children.

Celebrate the Year of the Rat at the Ernest A. DiMattia, Jr. Building of The Ferguson Library on Sunday, January 19 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The program, great for families, will feature performances by a Chinese acrobat, Korean drummers and dancers, a Tae Kwon Do demonstration and arts & crafts for children.

You'll experience Chinese culture and language at the acrobat performance, which includes hand balancing, foot juggling, ribbon dancing and Chinese water bowl manipulation.

Ko Art Dance & Drum will present South Korean arts and culture through dance and drum performances, including Hyangbal-mu, a dance, created 600 years ago, is performed with two small cymbals, and Modeum-buk, barrel drums in numerous sizes. The rhythms include Korean traditional Samulnori and some western rhythms.

Also, students of the school of Traditional Martial Arts will perform several Tae Kwon Do forms and paddle kicking combinations. The performance consists of slightly gymnastic/acrobatic techniques and outlines perseverance, kindness, and confidence.

Chinese Language School of CT will offer arts & crafts for children ages 5 and older.
