Corey Paris Sworn-In As State Representative For 145th District

STAMFORD, CT — Corey P. Paris was officially sworn-in as state representative for the 145th Assembly District on Tuesday, according to a news release. The District is wholly in Stamford.

"I am honored to have this community's support and to step into this role to serve the residents of the 145th House District," said Paris in a news release. "I am proud to join the Stamford legislative delegation and commit to championing progress every day I serve in the people's House. I look forward to getting to work to move Connecticut forward."

According to the news release, Paris, a Democrat, will serve on the Connecticut General Assembly's Education Committee, Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, and Planning & Development Committee.

Paris won the April 27 special election for the 145th Assembly District seat against Republican candidate Juan David Ospina. According to results provided by the city's Registrar of Voters office, Paris received 730 votes while Ospina got 225.

The seat for the 145th District was represented by Patricia Billie Miller for 12 years before she won a special election for the 27th state Senate District this March.

Paris serves as vice-chair of the Mayor's Multicultural Council for the City of Stamford, which he was appointed to in 2016 by Stamford Mayor David Martin. He also serves as the director of development for the Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County. Paris has considerable leadership experience and has served as president of Connecticut Young Democrats, vice president of Western Connecticut State University's Alumni Association and as a national trainer for Young People For, which is a People For the American Way program.
