"As a resident and current owner of another business in Harbor Point, my business partner and I knew this location presented a great opportunity for us and the community," Shakiban said in a news release. "The market will provide residents and the greater Stamford community a place to fulfill all of their grocery needs, no matter how big or small, right outside their doors."
Shakiban is also the owner of Patisserie Salzburg, a European-style café with locations in Harbor Point, New Canaan and Rye, N.Y., while Hill also owns the Ridgefield Organics & Specialty Market in Ridgefield.
The market will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the winter, and until 10 p.m. in the summer.
News of the store's opening was announced this week by Building and Land Technology.
"There's nothing we enjoy seeing more of than our residents not only living in our buildings, but also opening up businesses in our community," BLT co-president Ted Ferrarone said in a news release. "It's a true testament to the live, work, play philosophy. We're thankful Parivz and Mark have chosen Harbor Point as their newest endeavor, and we wish them nothing but good fortune."
The market's opening marks the addition of another unique new business to the popular Harbor Point area, located in the south end of Stamford, which has seen a steady stream of additions during a year in which many businesses have been forced to shut their doors due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
According to BLT, the company has welcomed a total of five new retailers to the Harbor Point area since January 2020. New businesses that opened in the area last year include HBAR Salon & Spa, Third Place by Half Full Brewery and PROOF Coffee Roasters.
In October, Stamford Chamber of Commerce president Heather Cavanagh noted to Patch the area has become "a desired community to live, work and play" over the years.
"Being located immediately south of the train station, Stamford Downtown and the I-95 corridor," Cavanagh said, "[Harbor Point] is a great place to relocate your business, find a home, have a fun night out or just enjoy the waterfront views nestled on over 100 acres along the Stamford waterfront."
She also pointed out the area's four marinas make Harbor Point a preferred boating destination, with trendy restaurants and retail services all located within walking distance.
