Lineup Announced For New-Look Alive@Five And Wednesday Nite Live
On Wednesday, officials announced the musical lineup for Stamford's popular concert series which will begin in September in Mill River Park.

STAMFORD, CT — After Stamford's popular outdoor concert series were canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials on Wednesday announced the musical lineup for this year's shows, which will take place in September.
Alive@Five and Wednesday Nite Live will have a different look, however, as the venue has been moved from Columbus Park to Mill River Park.
"We're so excited to bring this stellar concert lineup to this incredible venue. This really marks a stark change from where we've been historically. We have a little bit more room to spread out, a little more of a bucolic setting, and we think it's going to be a really great compliment to all the activities that we have in store," said David Kooris, president of Stamford Downtown, during a press conference in Mill River Park on Wednesday.

"This new venue really allows us an opportunity to step up the quality of the venue to really be world class, and to bring that to Southwestern Connecticut."

The concerts will be ticketed to control crowds. Tickets will be sold in advance this year on Eventbrite beginning on July 6. General admission tickets are $25 in advance, $35 on the day of the concert. Outside Alcohol will not be permitted. Beverages will be available for purchase at the concert, and food trucks will be on site. Kooris said that lines to get into the venue will be shorter, as there will be more entrances than in previous years.

Kooris noted that there will be no concerts on Sept. 15 or Sept. 16 so as to not interfere with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, but he said there will be a "big announcement" soon from Stamford Downtown on a new event for Sept. 17.
Stamford Mayor David Martin spoke briefly at Wednesday's press conference, and he talked about the changes to Downtown Stamford over the years.
"Combining [Mill River Park and these concerts] has really changed the direction not only of Downtown, Mill River Park and the connection to the West Side, but in fact has changed the direction of Stamford," he said.
Artie Selkowitz, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Mill River Park Collaborative, said many people over the years have told him that the concerts should be moved to Mill River.
"We were a little hesitant at first, but the way Stamford Downtown has planned this with sensitivity for the neighbors, with an idea to make it as open as possible to people so they can enjoy not only the music, but the environment, is really truly remarkable," he said. "Mill River Park is Stamford's Central Park. If New York can have music in the park, why can't we?"
