Lots of Fun for Discovery in Stamford Thursday

Hey Stamford, a dreary 63 degrees during the day with a 60-percent chance predicted showers. Evening temperatures drop to 54 and there's a 70-percent chance of rain, according to Weather.com. Tide charts show low tide hitting around 9:57 a.m. and 10:41 p.m. and high tide at around 3:41 a.m. and 4:01 p.m.

AARP Connecticut and the University of Connecticut, Stamford Campus will host an intergenerational Stamford Mayoral Candidate Forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. The theme of the forum is: Livable Communities, Good for All Ages and will feature questions on housing, transportation, education and the economy. Advance registration is required.

The Ferguson Library has a ton of fun activities for kids, adults and everyone in-between Thursday, including the 6 p.m. meeting of Thursday Night Talking Pictures, where everyone watches the same movie during the week then comes in to discuss it. 

As everyone ramps up for Halloween, Stamford's Avon Theater is setting the mood Thursday night at 9 p.m. with Cult Classics: The Dead Zone, a 30th anniversary showing of the adaptation of Stephen King's book starring Christopher Walken.
