ID Released Of Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Stamford: UPDATE
Stamford police have identified a 72-year-old man who was fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday morning.

STAMFORD, CT — Police have identified a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning on Newfield Avenue in Stamford.
Stamford police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth said Erwin Reich, a 72-year-old Stamford resident, was struck by the driver of a 2013 Toyota RAV4 within the 980 block of Newfield Avenue. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Reich was walking next to the northbound lane of the road when he was hit by the vehicle, which was traveling north, around 6 a.m.

EMS later took Reich to Stamford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Booth said.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash and spoke with investigators, Booth said. No charges have been filed at this time, Booth said.

The road was closed in the 980 block for a few hours Thursday morning but has since reopened.
Police asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have information related to it to contact the department at 203-977-4712.
