Netflix Thriller To Film In Stamford, Local Extras Sought
City officials confirmed "The Good Nurse," a Netflix movie, is set to film in Stamford and a casting agency is seeking extras from the area.

STAMFORD, CT — A recent casting call has indicated a new Netflix thriller starring Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain will be filming in Stamford, and the production is seeking background actors from the area.
According to the notice from Citrola Casting LLC, those interested in applying to be a paid extra in "The Good Nurse" can fill out a form on the casting agency's website.
The form asks for information on a variety of topics, including clothing sizes, whether and applicant has any visible tattoos and how far an applicant lives from the Stamford area.

Mayor David Martin said he was very excited Netflix has chosen to film "The Good Nurse" in Stamford.
"Stamford has many attractive settings," Martin said, "with a vibrant downtown, beautiful beaches, peaceful suburbs, rolling woods and everything in between. It's what makes Stamford a great place to live, and an ideal place to film in too. Maybe this will be the beginning of more films produced in Stamford, not only from studios like Netflix, but also from local students and artists who recognize the beauty of our city."
Stamford Economic Development Director Thomas Madden confirmed Tuesday the movie will be filming in Stamford and the production is currently constructing sets.
According to Madden, his office works with a lot of production companies on films, television shows, commercials and other projects. The city also has a great partnership with the state's film office, Madden said.
"The [city's] economic development department helps these productions secure locations spots, find hotels, provide lists of potential caterers and help advertise for extras," Madden said. "We help coordinate internally with our different departments for film permit, road closures and police services."
Madden also noted Stamford's digital media industry has become one of the city's fastest growing industries, a strong part of six major industries that are located in Stamford.
Recently, ITV America moved into a new space at The Village on Canal Street and Park Slope productions recently moved into offices on Washington Boulevard with approximately 20 employees. The latter plans to film a new Investigation Discovery show in Stamford over the next five months, Madden said.
Last spring, HBO filmed footage for the reality competition series "Legendary" in Stamford. Two seasons of the History channel series "Forged In Fire" were also filmed in the city, Madden said.
Other series such as "Judge Jerry," "Maury" and "The Steve Wilkos Show" continue to be filmed in Stamford's downtown area as well.
According to Deadline, "The Good Nurse" is based on the true story of the pursuit and capture of prolific serial killer and nurse Charlie Cullen. Redmayne will take on the Cullen role and Chastain will play a nurse who worked alongside the killer and helped police capture him.
Tobias Lindholm is set to direct the project, which is based on a book by Charles Graeber, according to the Internet Movie Database. Krysty Wilson-Cairns wrote the screenplay.
Redmayne recently starred in the Netflix film "The Trial of the Chicago 7," which was nominated this year for an Academy Award for Best Picture. He also had roles in the "Fantastic Beasts" film series, "Les Miserables" and "The Theory of Everything."
Chastain has starred in films such as "Zero Dark Thirty," "Molly's Game," "Interstellar" and "The Help." Nnamdi Asomugha also recently joined the "Good Nurse" cast.
