New GOLFTEC Facility Opens In Stamford

GOLFTEC, a golf training facility with an emphasis on technology, has opened a new facility in Stamford.

STAMFORD, CT — GOLFTEC, a golf training facility with a number of locations across the country and en emphasis on technology, has announced the recent opening of a new instruction and club fitting center in Stamford.

Located on Canal Street, the new facility is GOLFTEC's second training center to open in Fairfield County; the company also has a location in Westport.

According to Center Manager Boris Busljeta, the Stamford facility officially opened Dec. 21 and has been operating for nearly two months. Busljeta said the overall design of Stamford is what ultimately enticed the company to open up in the city.

"For us, I think the big thing," Busljeta said, "is the way Stamford's sort of designed...and Stamford being sort of big into technology and media, it helps us because we're a company that's technology-based. We do a lot of stuff as far as videotaping, all that stuff."

Busljeta also noted Stamford, as a location, offers a younger demographic of clients based in Harbor Point and an older demographic who live in other areas of the city and Greenwich.

"So we're kind of hitting both sort of spectrums of young and adult," Busljeta said, "which is great because we want the younger people to play golf so we can teach them and keep them there, and we want the older generation to still play golf and help them play better as well."

The 2,600-square foot facility has four teaching and practice bays, along with a putting green, staffed by a team of coaches who utilize the company's teaching technology, such as advanced motion measurement, video analysis and premium launch monitors to help students find a lesson plan best suited for their needs, according to a news release provided by the company.

The company prides itself on its ability to offer data on a client's golf swing through its award-winning SwingTRU Motion Study. The coaching team is comprised of instructors who have graduated from GOLFTEC University, a certification program based upon mastering advanced training of golf swing mechanics and the company's technology.

Most GOLFTEC coaches are Professional Golfers' Association pros who have taught thousands of lessons, according to the company. Busljeta said each instructor at the Stamford facility currently has an average of about 25 clients each, with three instructors in total.

Busljeta said the facility tries to get clients to come in on a weekly basis so instructors can examine their golf game and ensure clients maintain what they've learned thus far.

"It's not just one lesson and see you later," Busljeta said, "we take ownership in our students' golf game and golf swing, because we want them to get better, plain and simple."

GOLFTEC clients also have the advantage of being able to watch and review their swing in a number of way, Busljeta said.

"When you first sign up," Busljeta said, "you get your own user ID and password, and you have the ability to log in and review what we did during a lesson...then we also add some notes and also do videos of how to do certain drills. We give [clients] a bunch of different tools to put in your golf toolbox to help you get better."

Stamford Economic Development Director Thomas Madden said he was excited to welcome GOLFTEC to the city.

"During the pandemic, Stamford has seen a resurgence in golfing as a social distanced activity," Madden said. "I am glad to see their new [facility] here, and I am looking forward to booking my lessons with GOLFTEC as I tune up for golfing in the spring."
