Obituary: Giovanni 'John' Vitti, 97, Of Stamford

He worked proudly for 35 years as a laborer with the F. D. Rich Co and for the Rich family.

Giovanni (John) Vitti, 97, a Stamford resident passed away at his home on April 1, 2021. Born on December 10, 1923 in Settefrati, Italy, the son of the late Antonio Vitti and Restituta Pia.

He is predeceased by his wife, Virginia (Buzzeo) Vitti; siblings Alberto Vitti, Alfredo Vitti, and Levio Vitti. He is survived by his children Aldo (Cathy); Joann Socci (Angelo) and Anna Norman (Lenny); his siblings Domenico Vitti (Antonia) of Settefrati, Italy, Nilde Socci and Lisa Socci both of Stamford; his grandchildren Amanda and Jenna Norman, Joseph Vitti, Jessica Slocum; his great-grandchildren Dylan Norman and Teresina Vitti; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He served in the Italian military during the second World War. After his wedding in 1952, he moved to Stamford with his wife and worked proudly for 35 years as a laborer with the F. D. Rich Co and for the Rich family.

The family extends sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Katsigiannis for his love and care through the years; also to his caregivers Ewa and Devica.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
