Pedestrian Struck By Car, In Critical Condition: Stamford Police

A Stamford resident suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the city's downtown area, according to police.

STAMFORD, CT — A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night in the downtown area of Stamford, according to police.

Sgt. Jeffrey Booth said a 41 year-old Stamford resident was struck by a 2005 Dodge Durango in the area of Grove Street. Police believe the pedestrian was crossing the street at the time of the collision, Booth said. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Booth said the pedestrian, who was not identified, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital. The pedestrian was in critical, but stable, condition early Wednesday morning, Booth said.

The driver of the vehicle was identified and is cooperating with the department's investigation, Booth said. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday morning.
