Stamford Police Chase Pig Through Neighborhood: Video
A pig led officers on a hog-wild chase through a Stamford neighborhood. Watch footage from one of the officers' body camera here.
STAMFORD, CT — While Stamford police typically chase down criminals, some could be found chasing after something more bizarre last week: a pig. On Friday, officers responded to Roxbury Road after receiving unusual reports of a pig wandering in the area.
After locating the pig in question on Winding Brook Lane, officers Michael Nguyen, Louis Vidal and Nicholas Gelonesi attempted to catch the animal in a garbage can, leading to a nearly hour-long chase. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Parts of the chase were captured on an officer's body camera. Police released the footage Saturday on the department's Facebook page.

"This little piggy went to the market, this little piggy stayed home...this little piggy ran away from the police," the Facebook post reads.
At one point, one of the officers can be heard joking they are in "a standoff" with the pig, who later runs right through another officer's legs. Throughout the chase, the pig also can be heard letting out squeals, though police assured residents in their Facebook post that "no police officers or pigs were hurt."

Eventually, an officer tossed the garbage can over the pig, bringing the hog-wild chase to a close.
"It took over 45 minutes of chasing the pig to finally catch him and get him under control," police said. "Oh yes, we are well aware of the plethora of jokes this incident brings to mind."
According to police, the pig is now "resting comfortably" at Stamford Animal Control as they try to locate its owners. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 203-977-4437.
