SPS Names Sharon Longo As Principal Of Newfield Elementary

Longo has been a member of the Newfield community for 27 years.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools (SPS) recently announced that Newfield Elementary Assistant Principal Sharon Longo has been named principal of Newfield, effective July 1, 2021. Longo is replacing current Newfield Principal Lisa Saba Price, who will be serving as principal at Westover Elementary School, also beginning on July 1, 2021.

Longo has been a member of the Newfield community for 27 years, serving as assistant principal for the past 10 years. She began her career in the Stamford Public Schools as a fourth grade teacher and a curriculum associate for staff development. She is a Stamford native and graduate of Westhill High School.

"Sharon Longo is a dedicated leader and has been integral in the creation of the nurturing community that is Newfield," said SPS Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero in a news release. "It is rare that a person spends their entire career in one school community. However, when it happens, it is exciting to be witness to their rise to the top. I know she will be successful in her new role."

Longo holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She earned her 6th Year Certification in Educational Administration from the University of Bridgeport.
