Stamford Brewery Hosting Drive-Thru Donation Event

Half Full Brewery in Stamford will host a drive-thru donation event to show their appreciation to healthcare workers and first responders.

STAMFORD, CT — While Half Full Brewery typically specializes in spreading "liquid hoptimism," the Stamford-based brewery will take that initiative a step further this weekend and show their appreciation for those helping combat the spread of the new coronavirus. On Saturday, April 25, the Half Full team will host a donation drive-thru event for healthcare workers and first responders.

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., doctors, nurses, EMTs, police, firefighters and "anyone else who is part of this group of heroes" can drive by the brewery, located on Homestead Avenue, and pick up a coupon redeemable for beer, coffee and other items from Half Full, as well as RISE Nitro Brewing Co and The 203, who are partnering with the brewery for the event.

According to Zach Kyte, the brewery's general manager, the event is part of Half Full's "Together We Can" mantra, focused on building a community in Stamford while keeping a necessary distance from each other. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"For this event, we want to highlight the incredible work that Stamford Hospital has been doing to keep all of us safe and cared for," Kyte said in an email to Patch.

Kyte said the overall goal of the event is to support the heroes in the healthcare and first response field and show appreciation on behalf of the brewery, as well as the RISE and The 203 teams.

"We've been working with Rise and The203 for a few years now for different events and products," Kyte said. "We just announced a Nitro Hard Coffee this week with Rise, which is a new non-beer product that releases next week."

Appropriately named "Rise & Grind," the brewery's website describes the new hard coffee product as the "first of its kind ever released," and the only black, nitro hard coffee on the market. Created for the "risk-takers and the dream makers," Rise & Grind contains 90mg of caffeine and is brewed with organic coffee, dairy-free and no sugar added.

Kyte also noted the brewery will still be open to customers for curbside pickup while the event is going on. Any customers looking to show support their support for healthcare workers and first responders can donate directly to Stamford Hospital, Kyte said.

The event is another way Half Full hopes to show its support for the community after shutting down its tap room last month. Since then, the brewery has offered contactless beer pickups for orders placed ahead of time online.

Through this option, customers can select what beers they would like through the brewery's website and pay online using a credit or debit card. Paying online is the key to this process, as customers are not allowed inside the building at this time.

Customers then receive a notification when their order is ready, at which time they can simply drive to the brewery and call to let the Half Full team know they are outside.

"We've had a great show of support from our community for [pick-up] orders," Kyte said. "Our staff has been fantastic and flexible, same with our customers as they have been very understanding with our new processes on beer orders."

Half Full also recently began offering delivery for orders over $50 to customers in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan and Norwalk. According to Kyte, the brewery has seen "a great response" from customers looking to have their favorite beers delivered right to their home.
