Stamford Declares Snow Emergency: Here Is What You Need to Know
Information on garbage pickup, school schedule and parking rules.

STAMFORD, CT — Mayor David Martin has declared a snow emergency in the city starting at 8 p.m. Monday.
All vehicles must be moved off designated snow emergency streets and alternate side of the street parking rules will be in effect.
City parking garages are available free of charge after 5 p.m. Monday through the duration of the storm.

Garbage Pickup
Tuesday and Wednesday pickup is postponed. Residents who normally put out garbage Tuesday will have it picked up Thursday and Wednesday's regularly scheduled pickup will be Friday.

Thursday and Friday pickups will occur on Saturday.
The city asks residents not to place toters in the street so plows can clear snow without issues.
Snow Emergency
During the Snow Emergency, Snow Emergency Routes are to be kept clear of cars. Snow Emergency Routes are clearly marked with red and white signage. Vehicles will be ticketed and towed while the snow emergency is in effect. All City Garages will be open and free to residents for the duration of the Snow Emergency. City Garages are located at:
- Bedford Street Garage – 17 Forest Street
- Bell Street Garage – 28 Bell Street
- Summer Street Garage – 100 Summer Street
Stamford Public Schools
Superintendent Earl Kim has announced that all schools will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday).
Expected Coastal Flooding
Flooding is expected to be minor to moderate. Residents that typically experience flooding during these types of events should expect to similar flooding.
The Hurricane Barrier is being manned by the Army Corps of Engineers, and will likely have closures depending on tides. They will make a decision about closing the Hurricane Barrier based on storm information closer to when the storm hits. West Beach and Cummings Beach will be closed at 10:00 p.m. tonight through the duration of the storm.
Stamford’s Alternate Parking Rules
To provide adequate maneuvering space for snow removal equipment on some of our narrower streets (see those designated below), alternate side parking rules will be in effect.
Tomorrow, March 14th, parking will be allowed on the even-numbered side of the street and restricted on the odd-numbered side of the street until 8am the following day (March 15th), at which time cars should move to the odd-numbered side.
