STAMFORD, CT — Mayor David Martin signed an executive order earlier this week to reopen the Stamford Government Center to the public, effective Monday, July 12. Over the past year and a half, residents could only enter by appointment only.

  • The general public will be required to properly wear a face covering at all times while in the Government Center.
  • Socially distanced workspace layouts, PPE equipment, and the four person maximum capacity for all elevators in the Center will continue to be maintained.
  • Employees who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear a face covering while in the Government Center except at times when interacting with the public when wearing a face covering shall be required. Procedures to validate that an employee is fully vaccinated will be issued within the next several weeks.
  • Employees who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear a face covering at all times while in the Government Center and maintain social distancing protocols.
  • Kiosks have been set up in the lobby of the Government Center to reduce traffic in the building and aid social distancing.
  • Services are available by appointment. Appointments will be necessary to conduct business on floors 3 and above. Visitors are required to report to the lobby security desk and indicate the department and name of the employee they are scheduled to meet with, and time of their appointment. They will be met in the lobby and escorted to their destination department. Upon completion of their business, the visitor will be escorted back down to the lobby.

"The city has been extremely successful in combatting COVID-19 and we continue to remain cautiously optimistic of the future," said Martin in a news release on Friday. "We plan to continue our deliberate efforts to ensure the greatest level of safety for visitors as well as employees."

Martin's Chief of Staff, Michael Pollard, said Stamford has been vigilant in ensuring safety for all by continuing to update and amend safety protocols.
