Stamford Health To Expand Vaccine Equity Program
A recently received grant will help fund the program, which began in mid-January.
STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Health recently received a grant from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to fund the expansion of its "No Barriers" Vaccination Equity Program, according to a news release.
Stamford Health partnered with the City of Stamford and local community organizations to launch "No Barriers", which reserves dedicated COVID-19 vaccination blocks for socially vulnerable groups.
"This grant will allow us to continue the important work of growing vaccination efforts in our community with a focus on equitable distribution," said Kathleen Silard, President and CEO of Stamford Health, in a news release. "Thank you to the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and to our many 'No Barriers' Program partners for helping the communities we are so proud to serve receive these life-saving vaccines."

This newly funded expansion of the "No Barriers" Program will focus on a "door to door" approach to increase vaccination efforts and reduce vaccine hesitancy in the communities hit the hardest by COVID-19. The goal of this in-person approach is to dispel misinformation, further educate the community about the benefits of vaccination, and connect people to a vaccine clinic. These efforts are anticipated to begin as early as this week.
"The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is very proud to support Stamford Health in their expansive COVID-19 vaccination efforts," added Alex Cohen, President, Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, in a news release. "We are hopeful that this grant will expand the 'No Barriers' program and help reduce COVID-19 cases in our community."

Stamford Health’s vaccination efforts have been increasing rapidly with the recent vaccine "super site" opening in Stamford’s Harbor Point area. To date, Stamford Health has administered over 117,000 vaccinations to the community with an additional 15,000+ appointments scheduled in the weeks ahead. As vaccine volumes increase, Stamford Health and its community partners will expand their equity efforts by going door to door in priority communities, an effort made possible by the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation.
