Stamford To Host Fourth Of July Rooftop Fireworks Display

A Fourth of July fireworks display is scheduled to take place in Stamford's downtown area this weekend. Here are the details.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford residents will be able to enjoy fireworks this weekend after all, as Stamford Downtown will host a Fourth of July rooftop fireworks display Saturday.

According to an announcement, the fireworks will be launched from the roof of the Landmark Building, located on Landmark Square. The display is meant to serve as "an uplifting treat" for residents of the downtown area and surrounding neighbors in view of the building, downtown officials said. There will be no public viewing area for the fireworks, however the show "will be visible for miles," allowing residents to safely watch from patios, rooftops, windows and balconies, officials said. In light of this, no streets will be closed during the show.

Downtown president David Kooris said he was pleased to provide this gift to the Stamford community and hoped it would bring people together while still remaining at a safe distance from each other.

"We are launching fireworks from the city's tallest commercial building so that it will be visible from apartments, homes, offices and restaurant patios throughout downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods," Kooris said in an email to Patch. "Since we can't bring people together, we're bringing the fireworks to you!"

He also said he hoped the display would offer residents a chance to reflect, as well as celebrate.

"We hope folks will take time on Saturday evening to reflect on our history," Kooris said, "and think about the actions we can take together to ensure that Stamford is an equitable, safe and vibrant place to live and work for all."

This special event is produced by Stamford Downtown and presented by Reckson, in partnership with Garden Homes Management and Star 99.9. Residents can tune into Star 99.9 for a musical simulcast during the show.

The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. A rain date has been set for Friday, July 3 at 9 p.m.
