Stamford Public Schools Announces New Hirings

Stamford Public Schools announced several new hirings in a news release on Thursday morning.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced several new hirings in a news release on Thursday morning.

SPS Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero and the Stamford Board of Education named Dr. Lori Rhodes as director of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment-Secondary at the June regular board meeting. Rhodes is currently an assistant professor Educational Leadership at Sonoma State University in California.

In this role, effective July 1, Rhodes will be responsible for designing and implementing the curriculum framework, developing the process for creating curriculum, monitoring the implementation of curriculum, and ensuring the identification of guaranteed instructional best practices by content-area and secondary grade level.

Rhodes holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Binghamton University, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia University, and a Master of Arts in History and a Doctorate in History of Education from Stanford University.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities at Sonoma State, Rhodes also redesigned the administrative credential program to align with new state standards and created a Master of Arts in Education Leadership program. During her career, Rhodes founded and directed a college counseling organization, as well as served as a secondary administrator in multiple locations.

In two unrelated appointments, the district announced the return of Dr. Lisa Armstrong as coordinator of Talent Acquisition and Development and the appointment of Oleg Iogman as the coordinator of Technology Integration.

Armstrong was a teacher leader for student support during the 2020-2021 school year and had held the position of coordinator of Talent Acquisition and Development from August 2018 through 2020, before the position was eliminated due to budget cuts. In this role, her responsibilities will include managing talent recruitment and selection; job descriptions; employee orientation and on boarding; and induction and mentoring programs.

Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Central Connecticut State University, a Master of Education and Sixth Year Certification in Remedial Reading from the University of Bridgeport, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Capella University.

Iogman served as a Grade 5 Math and Science Teacher at Strawberry Hill for the 2020-2021 school year. Previously, he was curriculum associate for K-12 Science and an administrative intern at Westover Magnet Elementary School.

As coordinator of Technology Integration, his responsibilities will include cultivating a vision for how technology can enhance student learning and improve instructional practice, the oversight, creation, management and evaluation of the District Technology Plan, as well as the integration of technology in curriculum, instruction and assessments.
