Stamford Public Schools: Weekly Message From Dr. Tamu Lucero, Superintendent -- Mensaje De La Dra. Tamu Lucero, Superintendente De Las SPS
Dear Staff and Families,
May 21, 2021 - 11:34am
Dear Staff and Families, First, I would like to recognize that May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. If you haven’t already, please take some time, either in your classrooms, homes or with your friends to recognize and celebrate the many contributions that members of the AAPI community have poured into our city, state and country. These contributions and achievements not only have influenced, but also have enriched, our history, our culture and our school district. Thank you to our SPS AAPI community members.  Mental Health Summit In an effort to provide support to our community, the SPS Office of Family and Community Engagement is hosting a virtual Mental Health and Wellness Summit on Thursday, May 27, at 12:00 p.m. All community members, students, school faculty, parents and caregivers are invited to attend. Please register by clicking this link . Once registered you will receive details on how to access the individual virtual sessions and the live panel discussion, which will be held at 4:00.   ESSER Listening Sessions Thank you to those who attended our Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds Listening Sessions earlier this week. Our goal was to help staff, families and our community understand how the grant money we have been allocated has been used in the past and how the newly allocated funds can be used going forward. Additionally, we wanted to get input on the areas where you think the funds could make the greatest impact for our students. If you weren’t able to attend, please listen to the presentation and send us your thoughts and suggestions, to SPSReopening@stamfordct.gov  Reminder: Free COVID-19 Vaccinations Available It’s important to remember that the COVID-19 vaccine is now approved for ages 12 and up. For more information regarding vaccination locations, dates and available times go to the COVID-19 page on the city website: click here  Finally, our district is very fortunate to have such a wonderful and dedicated group of support staff, teachers and administrators. Each year we bid a fond farewell to those who are retiring from the district to take on new and exciting, or relaxing, opportunities. Additionally, we recognize those who are celebrating milestones in their careers. Earlier this week, we shared a list of those who we celebrate and honor this year. Please take a moment to thank and wish our retirees well and congratulate those who continue to serve us. Here is a link to an updated list.  Stay safe and healthy!  Dr. Tamu Lucero Superintendent of Schools Â
