Stamford School Closed Due To COVID-19 Case Will Reopen Monday
District officials said Stillmeadow Elementary School in Stamford is closed Friday "due to the need to complete COVID-19 contact tracing."

STAMFORD, CT — District officials confirmed Stillmeadow Elementary School in Stamford is closed Friday after receiving a report of a positive coronavirus case, however the school will reopen Monday.
In a post on the district website Thursday night, officials said the school was closed Friday "due to the need to complete COVID-19 contact tracing."
In an email to Patch, district spokesperson Sharon Beadle confirmed Friday afternoon there was "one positive case reported from the Stillmeadow community." (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"As the superintendent has said from the start, health and safety is a priority," Beadle said in an email, "because of the timing of our notification, we were not able to complete contact tracing, which is a critical step. So it was most prudent to close the school so that that step could be completed."
Beadle also confirmed the school will reopen next week.

"We will be open on Monday," Beadle said. "If we had had another hour or so last night, we would have been opened today."
The positive case came only a couple of days after most schools in Stamford reopened to students on Tuesday.
