Third Man Charged In Connection To Vets Park Attack: Stamford PD
The attack on a 30-year-old victim occurred in broad daylight in Veterans Park on June 4.
STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department announced on Friday that a third man has been charged in connection to a broad daylight attack which occurred last month in Veterans Park.
On June 4 at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers responded to 150 Atlantic St. on a reported stabbing. A male victim, age 30, was found within the park with a stab wound to his torso. He was transported to Stamford Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He recovered in the Intensive Care Unit and was later released.
An investigation determined that there were numerous suspects involved in the assault, police said.

Several days after the attack, police announced that Daniel Flores, 33, of Greenwich, was charged with breach of peace and second-degree assault. Police also said that Devante Derisier, 25, of Stamford, was charged with third-degree assault.
More recently, police said, investigators identified Brian Towles, 28, of Stamford, as the stabbing suspect. He was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment. Police said a warrant was executed on July 1, and Towles was taken into custody at his residence without incident. A Superior Court Judge set Towles' bond at $250,000.

"This brazen daylight assault in the newly remodeled park was not a random attack," Lt. Thomas Scanlon said in a news release. "The Stamford Police Department has increased its patrols and visibility in the area. This incident should not alarm or deter anyone from enjoying the amenities and thriving downtown atmosphere."
