Traffic Concerns Could Cook Proposed Chick-Fil-A In Stamford

The popular chicken restaurant chain reportedly wants to put a location in the Bull's Head shopping area.

STAMFORD, CT — Chick-fil-A, the popular chicken restaurant chain, wants to put one of its eateries in Stamford's congested Bull's Head shopping area, but city officials and some residents are saying not-so-fast, reports the Stamford Advocate.

Traffic concerns throughout the area appear to be a bit of an obstacle for the restaurant chain, in part because it wants to move into the former Bank of America site at the bottom of High Ridge Road. Chick-fil-A has a location on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, which is also a heavily trafficked road.

Some speakers at a Stamford Zoning Board public hearing Monday were skeptical that it would not cause traffic problems. The chain received support from others, who pointed to the community goodwill the company provides. Another public hearing is scheduled for June.

Additionally, the restaurant wants the Stamford board to amend zoning regs to allow for its drive-through, which zoning staff is not recommending because it could open the door for restaurant drive-throughs in other neighborhoods, according to the publication.
