Trinity Catholic Captures Class S Girls Basketball Championship
The Crusaders came back from seven points down to defeat Canton at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

UNCASVILLE, CT — Senior Iyanna Lops did it all for Trinity Catholic in Saturday's Class S girls basketball championship game against Canton. She scored 22 points, hauled down seven rebounds and blocked five shots - all by the end of the third quarter.
She wound up with 26 points and fittingly blocked a Warrior shot in the final 10 seconds, leading the Crusaders to a 52-45 win for the program's first state title since 2006, and fourth overall.
Canton jumped out to an eight-point lead late in the first quarter, but a 10-point run, paced by a pair of 3-point shots by Lops, pushed the Crusaders in front. After Canton tied it, Trinity Catholic embarked on a nine-point surge, seven by Lops, to assume the lead for good.
