Waterstone on High Ridge Celebrates Older Americans Month
Senior independent and assisted living communities can help older adults live more comfortable and socially fulfilling lives
STAMFORD, CT.- (MAY 13, 2021) – May is Older Americans Month and a time when we as a country reflect on what we can do make life better for senior citizens.
A group of older adults who are considering living at the new Waterstone on High Ridge in Stamford gathered at Table 104 in Stamford during Older Americans Month on May 13. The group discussed how senior independent and assisted living communities can help older adults live more comfortable and socially fulfilling lives.
Marvin Rosenbaum, 90, currently lives in an apartment in Stamford. A widower, he is totally independent, still driving and in good health, but said that he was planning to move to Waterstone on High Ridge later this year for socialization.

“I enjoy conversation over dinner,’’ said Rosenbaum, who plans to start a bridge foursome once he moves in.
Naomi and Hal Hessel of Stamford were also at the luncheon with friends who plan to move into Waterstone on High Ridge. Naomi said that even though she has fond memories of all the family events held there, their large home no longer suits their lifestyle.

“We have a lovely house we have been in a very long time,’’ she said. “Luckily we are in very good health, but there comes a time when a big house is just too much.’’
When Older Americans Month was established in 1963, there were only 17 million Americans 65 and over. As of 2019, there were 54 million adults over age 65, according to the US Census Bureau.
