Estate Of Victims In Mystic Crash Settle For $1.25 Million
A court settlement has been awarded to the estate of a couple killed in a crash earlier this year.
MYSTIC, CT — Insurance companies for a driver and a restaurant and bar have settled a wrongful death suit related to a fatal crash for $1.25 million, according to The Day. Carol Belli was drinking at the Captain Daniel Packer Inne on March 9 before she struck and killed pedestrians Joanna Wakeman, 78, and Seth Wakeman, 88.
Belli was charged with being intoxicated following a breathalyzer test, but has not been charged in the deaths of the elderly couple.
An initial investigation determined that the Wakemans were crossing from the west side to the east side of Route 27 when they were hit by Belli's vehicle, according to NBC.
