Former Stonington Man Killed In Miami Beach
A former Stonington man was killed and his longtime partner is facing charges, according to a report.

STONINGTON, CT — A former Stonington man was killed by his longtime partner in Miami Beach, FL on Nov. 10, The Day reported. Aborn D. Smith IV, 38, was repeatedly stabbed and struck with an ax following an argument.
Alexis Otano, 27, fled but was arrested a few hours later and confessed to the murder, according to The Day. He was reportedly upset that Smith had not contacted him in several days, The Day reported.
Otano told police that Smith, his partner of six or seven years, made him jealous and upset, which led to the argument in his apartment where Otano lived with his brother, according to The Miami Herald. A neighbor told the brother that he heard screams and a struggle coming from Otano's apartment around noon Tuesday.

When Otano's brother and a woman returned to the apartment, they saw Otano quickly leave with a bleeding right hand, The Miami Herald reported. They then entered the apartment and found Otano's partner, who was later pronounced dead from numerous stab wounds.
Otano faces a charge of second-degree murder with a weapon.

Smith graduated from Stonington High School in 2000 and was known as Denny, according to his obituary. Shortly after graduating high school, he moved to New York City, where he spent many years before moving to Thailand.
