Justice of the Peace Marie Tyler Wiley conducts free weddings in Mystic on Valentine's Day, on a first come, first served basis.

Connecticut Justice of the Peace Marie Tyler Wiley will once again be on hand in Mystic to perform free wedding ceremonies for couples this Valentine’s Day, which falls on a Sunday this year.

“On the most romantic day of the year I love to give couples who are ready to take the plunge, but may have limited resources, a special and unique wedding experience,” said Tyler-Wiley.

Olde Mistick Village offers the space free of charge for the day each year. Couples can come to the Meeting House at Olde Mistick Village, 27 Coogan Blvd., Mystic, from 2 to 4 p.m. Tyler-Wiley will perform an individual ceremony for them. People who want to renew their vows are also welcome.

“You simply show up with both your driver’s license or passport,” Tyler-Wiley wrote on her website. “You fill out a form, they type it up, ask you to proof it and swear to its accuracy. It’s easy as pie.“

This will be the 8th year Tyler-Wiley has performed the Valentine’s Day love fest and she’s married dozens of couples each year. Mary Beth Morrissey from Capture Photography will be on hand and couples can purchase photographs if they choose.
