Haberek to Hold Community Meeting at Mel's Downtown Creamery

Stonington First Selectman Edward Haberek Jr. is  holding an Ice Cream & Issues Downtown meeting at Mel’s Downtown Creamery in Pawcatuck on Monday, Sept. 30 at 6:30pm.

Haberek said the meeting will be an opportunity for residents and business owners to discuss their concerns, ideas and feedback regarding Downtown Pawcatuck and some of the strategies that have been implemented.

"I hope that this meeting would provide some insight and ideas to the various departments that have connections to the Downtown Pawcatuck area and provide ideas that help shape decision-making on the future of Downtown Pawcatuck," said Haberek.

Several members of the Stonington Police Commission, Economic Development Commission and Planning & Zoning Commission will be in attendance to hear information. The Stonington Police Administration, the Town Planner and the Human Services Manager have also been invited.

Haberek said, "I urge residents, building owners, and business owners to join us to help shape the future of Downtown Pawcatuck."

Also, the Director of Public Works will be on hand to discuss the downtown tree work that is occurring and present CL&P's Downtown Street Tree Proposal.

Mel’s Downtown Creamery has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from ice cream purchases to a local downtown charity and the town employees are collecting non-perishable food items to help the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center Food Party.
