Isham Street Boat Ramp Partially Closed In Stonington
Town officials said the ramp has been closed to trailered boat traffic due to its "declining condition."
STONINGTON, CT - Town officials said Thursday the Isham Street boat ramp on the Mystic River has been temporarily closed to trailered boat traffic due to its "declining condition."
According to a news release, the Board of Selectmen has been advised by the town’s insurance carrier that use of the ramp in its current state should be limited to roof top boats (canoes, kayaks, etc.) to avoid possible damage to vehicles and persons while loading and unloading trailered boats.
Officials said an assessment of the ramp is currently being determined by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) along with the town. This closure will remain in effect until the determination is made by DEEP on the course of action to bring the ramp back to a safe and usable condition.
