Jonathan Edwards and Saltwater Farm Concerts, Author Luncheon and Fall Consignments

Five things to know about Stonington, Mystic and Pawcatuck on Thursday, August 29.

  1. The National Weather Service forecasts isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon or otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 77 for today and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight with a low around 60 tonight.
  2. Tonight’s the last Summer Nights Music night at Jonathan Edwards Winery. The Brothers McCann is performing tonight, fingers crossed for a beautiful summer night but if not, don't worry, everyone can pile under the tent.
  3. Guido Favilene (acoustic singer/guitarist) will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Saltwater Farm Vineyard. Dave from Mystic Oysters will be shucking fresh oysters and Jenny Moran of Sweeties will have some truffles available.
  4. Pennywise is now accepting Fall consignments. Check out their website for a list of what they are looking for and the brands they accept.
  5. Bank Square Books is hosting lunch with an author Friday. A $16 cover charge gets you a signed copy of “I’ll be Seeing You”, a chance to talk to author Suzanne Hayes and lunch catered by Mystic Market. You have to RSVP, which you can do here. If you haven’t read it, “I’ll be Seeing You” is about two women who forge a friendship through correspondence while their husbands are away fighting WWII. Bank Square’s website says, “The friendship forged by their letters allows them to survive the loneliness and uncertainty of waiting on the home front, and gives them the courage to face the battles raging in their very own backyards. Connected across the country by the lifeline of the written word, each woman finds her life profoundly altered by the other's unwavering support.”
