Man, 19, Charged In Connection With Assault At Mystic YMCA: Cops
Hundreds waxed online about an assault at the Mystic YMCA, some claiming it was not handled by police. It was and a 19-year-old was charged.
MYSTIC, CT — An incident at the Mystic YMCA Thursday had hundreds engaged on a community social media page debating, and questioning, the lack of a security and police response to an assault.
Nearly 200 comments on the Facebook post had people debating whether the incident itself was a kids-will-be-kids versus a dangerous situation improperly handled.
But Stonington Police Chief Darren Stewart told Patch in an interview that police were called, that an officer was in Mystic and responded in minutes, and in fact, he said, at least three total officers in three cars responded. Stewart said when police arrived to the call of an "assault with an injured party ... the accused was was there, never left the Y, and was cooperative."

The post on the Stonington Community Forum reads, "An assault at the mystic YMCA tonight, some kid got punched in the face on the basketball court, staff did nothing as the perpetrator walked out....smh."
