Snowflakes & Ice Crystals (grades K-4) 9am-12pm. Oh the weather outside is frightful – and beautiful too! Come take a look at ice crystals and snowflakes under a microscope and see how it all relates to geometry. Observe the unique properties of water that make it so unique and valuable to all forms of life. Participate in the H2O Olympics and create your own snowflake to take home.

Nano Engineering (grades 5-8) 9am-12pm. Investigate the world of nanotechnology by taking on two challenges. Work in teams to evaluate how surface area and nanotechnology affect some products we use daily in the Fizzy Nano Challenge, and then look at how engineers use nanotechnology to improve on clothing and fabrics.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (grades k-4) 1pm-4pm. All humans produce trash but how do you deal with it? Help NESS scientists come up with a plan to deal with marine debris by collecting trash from a nearby beach, creating useable items from recycled materials and designing a poster to make the local community aware of their options to deal with their household trash.

Crazy Classification (grades 5-8) 1pm-4pm. Do you like making order out of chaos? Then this classification class is for you! Learn about the Linnaeus System of classifying all living things, use a classification key to identify jelly beans, create your own classification and then use a scientific classification system to identify some of the animals in the NESS touch tanks.
