How did you come up with the name?

Springline is a nautical term meaning a line led diagonally from the bow or stern of a ship to a point on a wharf and made fast to help keep the ship from moving fore and aft while docked. We liked the idea of tying in the Springline definition - securing a boat - with our tag line of Secure Your Dream.

Why start a business in this town?

Mystic is known for its beautiful coastline and has a history steeped in boating. This community believes in getting out on the water - be it for a day of cruising or competitive racing. Initially starting Springline in Mystic made sense because many of our clients are from the Greater Mystic area. We have now expanded into New York and Canada as well.

What business are you in?

We are the Northeast’s Premier new sailboat dealership and yacht brokerage with locations in Mystic, CT, Mamaroneck, NY and Quebec, Canada. We proudly represent Elan/Impression, Catalina Yachts, Blue Jacket and Island Packet sailboats, plus offer a wide array of brokerage listings for both power boats and sailboats.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

Boat ownership is often seen as a luxury - especially in today’s economy. We see boat ownership as a necessity - convincing customers of that can be a challenge but it is so worthwhile to see the smiles of our clients once they get out on the water and truly “secure their dream.” It is a proud feeling to know that we have made the sale and made the new owners excited for an adventure.

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

We have been the Blue Jacket Dealer of the Year since the inception of Blue Jacket over three years ago.

How does your business give back to the community?

Springline believes in giving back. We are dedicated sponsors of Mystic Schooners Baseball plus sponsor two travelling (AAU) baseball teams. Additionally we proudly donate to the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Mystic Arts Center, Avon Old Farms School and the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. We also volunteer for and are members of the Stonington Harbor Yacht Club.
