East Hartford Company To Pay $515K Under False Claims Act: Feds

Raytheon will pay the government more than $515,000 to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Raytheon Technologies Corporation and a subsidiary recently came to an agreement with the federal government to pay $515,625 to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act, according to a statement from John Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. The charges were related to the company selling goods to the government that it claimed were domestic but were manufactured in Romania.

Raytheon is a military defense contractor that sell goods and services to the U.S. and to other defense contractors.

Under its contract with the government, Raytheon was obligated to sell goods that met the requirements of the Buy America Act of 1933. However, the goods the company certified as domestic were actually made in Romania.

The payment of $515,625 is to resolve allegations that cover conduct occurring between 2006 and 2015.

The investigation was conducted by Defense Criminal Investigative Service, the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Larson.
