National Talent Search features Local Resident Amber Hawk

Amber Hawk, a local North Stonington resident, is one of 15 Connecticut finalists selected to participate in the Celebration of Music talent competition. Celebration of Music is a talent search that showcases the best local musical talent across America. Contestants at this event are vying locally for a chance to be on a national television show called Celebration of Music filming in Los Angeles, CA, starring national artist Ethan Bortnick.

Amber Hawk is a 12 year old seventh grader who loves to sing. She has enjoyed singing since first grade. At any moment in Amber’s day, you will hear her singing anything from Evanescence to gospel to show tunes. Currently, she enjoys singing in her school’s chorus, playing the flute, and being a part of the Drama Club. When asked why she wanted to enter the concert, Amber said, “I have never been a competition before and I thought this would be a great opportunity and challenge for me.”

This competition was inspired by Ethan Bortnick and his desire to give young musicians the same opportunities PBS afforded him. Two winners will be selected to advance to Los Angeles, CA. One winner will be selected by the producers and the other will be selected by the largest number of online and concert voters. Residents can vote at https://celebrationofmusic.com/hartford-ct-2019. Winners will be announced at Ethan Bortnick’s concert on Sunday, November 3 at The Bushnell Center for Performing Arts in Hartford, CT.
